How to convert webp to JPG
- Tap Choose a WebP and pick the file that was rejected.
- Tap Convert to JPG.
- Save the result — it will keep the same name with a .jpg on the end.
You did not choose WebP — a website did
WebP is a modern format that produces smaller files than JPEG at the same quality, so websites serve it to save bandwidth. Your browser understands it perfectly, which is why the image looked fine until you tried to do something with it. The gap is at the other end: forms that check file extensions, older desktop software, and print services frequently only know JPG and PNG.
Because the conversion is a re-encode, a small amount of quality is lost — the same as any JPEG save. At the default setting it is not visible, and it is the price of a file the other side will accept.
Animated and transparent WebP
WebP can hold an animation, and JPG cannot. If you convert one, you get its first frame and the tool says so rather than letting you find out later. WebP can also hold transparency, which becomes white here for the same reason it does when converting a PNG: JPG has no way to record see-through, and an unpainted area defaults to black.
